Meng Hongwei
INTERPOL’s current President is Mr Meng Hongwei, elected at the 85th session of the INTERPOL General Assembly held in Bali in November 2016. Mr Meng, of Chinese nationality, will serve as President until 2020.
Vice Minister of Public Security in China, Mr Meng has almost 40 years’ experience in criminal justice and policing, having overseen affairs related to legal institutions, narcotics control, counter-terrorism, border control, immigration and international cooperation.
Mr Meng has held several positions in the Ministry of Public Security including Director of the Patrol Police Division, Director-General of the Traffic Control Department, Assistant Minister, and Vice Minister.
He has also served as Vice Chairman of the National Narcotics Control Commission, Director of the National Counter-Terrorism Office, and Member of the Chinese Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Regional Counter-Terrorism Structure. He also serves as Director-General of the China Coast Guard.
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in law, Mr Meng is Head of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau of China.

The President of the Organization heads the Executive Committee and is elected by the General Assembly for a period of four years. INTERPOL's Constitution requires that the President:

Preside at meetings of the General Assembly and the Executive Committee and direct the discussions;
Ensure that the activities of the Organization are in conformity with the decisions of the General Assembly and the Executive Committee;
Maintain, as far as possible, direct and constant contact with the Secretary General of the Organization.

新华社雅加达11月10日电 在10日于印度尼西亚巴厘岛召开的国际刑警组织第85届全体大会上,中国公安部副部长孟宏伟高票当选新一任主席,任期4年。发布时间：2016.11.10

国际刑警组织成立于１９１４年，总部设在法国里昂，现有１９０个成员国，是唯一的全球性警察合作组织，也是仅次于联合国的第二大政府间国际组织。该组织秉承“让世界更安全”的宗旨，建立了全天候的全球警用通讯系统，以及规模庞大的遗失和被盗旅行证件、违法犯罪人员等数据信息库，经常性协调开展全球和地区联合执法行动，在深化全球警务合作、有效打击跨国刑事犯罪中发挥着不可替代的重要作用。各国警方依托国际刑警组织平台第一时间发布对外逃犯罪嫌疑人的红色通报，展开全球布控，对各类犯罪活动形成了强大震慑。国际刑警组织主席由成员国在职警方负责人经选举后担任，作为该组织最高负责人，负有确保该组织各项活动遵循全体大会和执行委员会的各项决议、指导和监督秘书长工作等职责。

自１９８４年９月５日正式加入国际刑警组织以来，中国始终致力于发展与国际刑警组织的务实高效合作关系，深度参与其各领域活动，不断加大投入和支持力度，积极承办各类专业会议和相关培训项目，并将主办２０１７年第８６届全体大会。同时，中国公安机关积极开展与国际刑警组织各成员国的全方位执法安全合作，不断加强高层互访和人员往来，与各国共同应对各类突出犯罪问题，推动在反恐、禁毒、追逃追赃、打击跨国有组织犯罪、打击网络电信诈骗、能力建设等领域取得丰硕合作成果，为维护国际和地区安全稳定作出了应有贡献。
