    The Shaw Prize Foundation announced the Shaw Laureates for 2018 at a Press Conference held on 14 May 2018 at Hong Kong time 15:00 (GMT 07:00).
    The Shaw Prize in Astronomy  is awarded to Jean-Loup Puget.
    The Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine is awarded to Mary-Claire King.
    The Shaw Prize in Mathematical Sciences is awarded to Luis A Caffarelli.

    Announcement Press Conference








    Established under the auspices of Mr Run Run Shaw in November 2002, the Prize honours individuals, regardless of race, nationality, gender and religious belief, who have recently achieved significant breakthrough in academic and scientific research or applications and whose work has resulted in a positive and profound impact on mankind.
    The Shaw Prize consists of three annual prizes: Astronomy, Life Science and Medicine, and Mathematical Sciences, each bearing a monetary award of one million two hundred thousand US dollars.


     Shaw Laureates 2018 announced in Press Conference on 14 May 2018.

    -    The Shaw Prize learns with great sadness of the passing on 30 January 2018 of Prof Ian R Gibbons, our Shaw Laureate in Life Science and Medicine 2017. Our thoughts are with his family, his colleagues and his friends. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to highlight his outstanding scientific achievements with the award of the Shaw Prize.

    2018年度“邵逸夫奖”得奖者名单公布

    邵逸夫奖基金会于今天5月14日(星期一)在香港举行新闻发布会，公布今届共有三位科学家获颁奖项，得奖者名单如下。所有数据于香港时间 15:30 (GMT 07:30) 在 www.shawprize.org 网站上载。
     “邵逸夫奖”设有三个奖项，分别为天文学、生命科学与医学、数学科学。每年颁奖一次，每项奖金一百二十万美元。今年为第十五届颁发，颁奖典礼定于本年9月26日(星期三)于香港举行。

     “邵逸夫奖”得奖者如下

     天文学奖 颁予
     尚-卢·普吉 (Jean-Loup Puget)
     法国国家科学研究中心及法国巴黎第十一大学奥赛太空天体物理研究所研究员暨欧洲太空总署普朗克计划高频仪器首席研究员
     以表彰他对红外到亚毫米光谱范围天文学的贡献。他探测了在过去恒星形成过程中的星系所放出的宇宙远红外背景，并提出星际物质含有芳香族碳氢分子。通过普朗克太空计划，他处理了星际物质前景的影响，因而显着地提升了我们对宇宙学的认识。

     生命科学与医学奖 颁予
     玛莉-克莱尔·金 (Mary-Claire King)
     美国西雅图的华盛顿大学医学系和基因组科学系美国癌症协会讲座教授
     以表彰她绘制第一个乳腺癌基因的基因图。玛莉-克莱尔·金利用数学模型预测和证明乳腺癌可以由单个基因引起。她绘制的基因图促成了乳腺癌基因的克隆，因而挽救了许多人的生命。

     数学科学奖 颁予
     路易·卡法雷 (Luis A Caffarelli)
     美国得克萨斯大学奥斯汀分校数学教授
     以表彰他在偏微分方程上的突破性工作，包括创立一套正则理论，适用于如蒙日−安培方程等非线性方程，及如障碍问题等的自由边界问题，这些工作影响了该领域整个世代的研究。

     “邵逸夫奖”是按邵逸夫先生的意愿而设，于2002年11月宣告成立，以表彰在学术及科学研究或应用上获得突破成果，和该成果对人类生活产生意义深远影响的科学家，原则是不论得奖者的种族、国籍、性别和宗教信仰。

    邵逸夫先生 (1907 - 2014)
    The Founder： Mr Run Run Shaw

    The Shaw Prize was established under the auspices of Mr Run Run Shaw who passed away peacefully at home in Hong Kong in the company of his family on 7 January 2014, aged 107.
     「邵逸夫奖」是按照邵逸夫先生的意愿设立。邵逸夫先生于二零一四年一月七日在家中及家人陪侍在侧中安详辞世，享寿一百零七岁。

    Mr Shaw, born in China in 1907, was a native of Ningbo County, Zhejiang Province.
    邵逸夫先生于一九零七年在中国出生，祖籍浙江宁波，
    He joined his brother's film company in China in the 1920s.
    一九二零年代辅助其兄长在上海创立电影公司，

     During the 1950s he founded the film company Shaw Brothers (Hong Kong) Limited in Hong Kong.
    一九五八年在香港创办邵氏兄弟（香港）有限公司制作电影，

     He was one of the founding members of Television Broadcasts Limited launched in Hong Kong in 1967.
    邵逸夫先生是一九六七年启播的电视广播有限公司的创办人之一。

    Mr Shaw also founded two charities, The Sir Run Run Shaw Charitable Trust and The Shaw Foundation Hong Kong, both dedicated to the promotion of education, scientific and technological research, medical and welfare services, and culture and the arts.
    邵逸夫先生先后成立了「邵逸夫慈善信托基金」和「邵氏基金（香港）有限公司」，主要发展教育科研、推广医疗福利及推动文化艺术。

    The Shaw Prize is an international award to honour individuals who are currently active in their respective fields and who have recently achieved distinguished and significant advances, who have made outstanding contributions in academic and scientific research or applications, or who in other domains have achieved excellence. The award is dedicated to furthering societal progress, enhancing quality of life, and enriching humanity's spiritual civilization.
    「邵逸夫奖」为国际性奖项，得奖者应仍从事于有关的学术领域，在学术或科学的研究或应用上有杰出贡献，或在近期获得突破性的成果，或在其他领域有卓越之成就。评选的原则主要考虑候选人之专业贡献能推动社会进步，提高人类生活质素，丰富人类精神文明。

    Preference is given to individuals whose significant work was recently achieved and who are currently active in their respective fields.
    近期在科研上有杰出成就且仍活跃于该学术领域的候选人将获优先考虑。

    The Shaw Prize consists of three annual awards: the Prize in Astronomy, the Prize in Life Science and Medicine, and the Prize in Mathematical Sciences. Each prize carries a monetary award of one million two hundred thousand US dollars. The nomination process begins in September, the winners to be announced in the summer and the prizes presented in autumn in the following year.
